    Liliana Segal, B.Ed.

Chief Green Officer & Event Planner

Liliana SegalWhile working in the Health Food Industry and volunteering for the past 18 years as a fundraiser and event planner, Liliana witnessed the waste that usually goes hand in hand with event productions. She has combined her passion, years of experience, and respect for the environment into a new business concept….events with a conscience. As the President of Green Chair™ Events, she is now dedicating her life to changing the way people get together, and to bringing awareness to the event industry to produce events without an environmental impact. Liliana is the founder of the Green Dream Foundation, a not-for-profit organization with a mission of educating charitable organizations to manage their events in a sustainable way, while helping them to reach their fundraising goals.

Liliana is the recipient of the 2010 Woman of Worth (WOW) leadership award and she recently completed the UBC Award of Achievement in Sustainability Management. She is currently nominated for the prestigious 2011 AnyWoman award.

Born in Santiago, Chile, Liliana Segal is a dynamic event planner, entrepreneur, educator, public speaker and mother of four boys.  Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious when she is educating people on how to creatively recycle or reuse resources in a fun and original way.

    Kanako Yoshino, B.S.W.

    Logistics Coordinator

Kanako studied Social Work in Japan and spent many years as the manager of a nursing home.  There, she heard stories from the elderly residents about the importance of preserving the environment.  They said it was essential to pass this information on to the next generation. Ever since she moved to Canada, she believes Green Chair Events has provided her a lot of opportunities to learn new things and meet new people. She thinks the company’s environmental philosophy is exactly what she wants to be involved in. On her spare time, Kanako volunteers to teach others about how to wear the Kimono and learn the traditional Japanese Awa dance.

    Norman Chan

As an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys volunteering his time to the community and doing his part in preserving the earth. He is excited about his role at Green Chair and hopes his contributions will make an impact.

    Aleksandra Golubovic

    Event Planning Intern

Aleksandra is a career student at UBC who was drawn to Green Chair Events’ unique philosophy. She finds Green Chair’s celebratory stance refreshing in a world where ‘green’ initiatives are sometimes draped in depressing colours and doomsday prophesies. She is continually inspired by Green Chair’s passionate and knowledgeable staff and is happy to contribute however she can to their exultant vision.

    Jamillia Wong

Jamillia is currently studying Sociology and Commerce at UBC, but is planning to pursue event coordination after graduation.  She brings with her various experiences of planning events within her community.
